ECHA and OECD's Project Evaluates Effectiveness of Robust Study Summaries for Hazard Assessment

04 May 2023
The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have collaborated on a pioneering project aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of robust study summaries (RSS) in hazard assessment. The report published in April 2023 highlights that the RSS delivers credible and comprehensive information to support hazard assessment.

However, the report identifies specific areas where improvements can be made, including the RSS review process, training and guidance, author expertise and experience, verification rules, IUCLID user interface, and updates to the OECD Harmonized Template. Despite the identified areas for improvement, the study represents a significant milestone in the field of hazard assessment, and its findings will undoubtedly shape future research in this area.
